BeBe and CeCe Winans Are Set In Stone; They Receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The inspirational twosome is touring the country again. They had taken a break in 1995 to pursue solo careers and now they are back together again with a chart topping single “Grace”. Recently they received news of being honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Museum. See what CeCe has to say about the award and other tidbits:
As a duo, Your awards and accolades include 5 Grammy Awards, 8 Dove Awards, 2 NAACP Image awards, a Soul Train award, over a dozen Stellar Awards, 12 charting R&B singles, numerous #1 singles on Christian radio, 3 Gold albums, 1 Platinum album and now a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. An honor that only 4 other gospel recording artists have received (Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland, Andrae Crouch and Amy Grant). How does having your name set in stone compare to your other honors?

CC: Well, the news about the star was a shocking but pleasing surprise. Having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame brings us into the company of some pretty famous people. I was just given a star in Nashville (TN) a year ago so having this happen too is amazing. Each award is an honor; they all stand alone.

Do you feel like you have “arrived” as gospel artists or artists period? What is your ultimate goal, if any, as a duet or apart?

CC: I’ve arrived in knowing who I am and knowing my purpose in life but as long as I live I will be reaching for new goals to reach more people with my music, my message of hope and love.

You are Mom and Pop Winans’ 7th and 8th child respectively (BeBe then CeCe). Did you grow up having each other’s back since you are right next to each other?  Can you describe a childhood incident where you looked out for one another?

CC: I remember when we were young I had to stay up late to finish an outfit I was sewing. BeBe stayed up with me. Then I realized that my sewing skills were not that good and tried to throw it away and BeBe said, “No, you are wearing this. I have stayed up too long!” LoL!!!!

As artists you have practically invented cross-over…from Gospel, R&B, Pop and so on. Not to mention, the many other ventures from television, music production, parenthood, and various humanitarian efforts… truly a dynamic duo. You have paved and pioneered a road for many to follow. To borrow from James Lipton, of Inside the Actor’s Studio, when you get to Heaven, What would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

CC: I just want God to let me in! LoL!! Just let me in!!!!
